Closet Monster: A Movie Review
Closet Monster is a movie that came out 9/23/2016. The movie is about closeted Newfoundland teen named Oscar. His dream is to become a special-effects makeup artist. He witnessed someone get beat up when he was eight, it basically traumatized him.
He hid it for a while but once his dad found out and asked him why did the boy get beat up he told him it was because of a hate crime, which he said “Because he was gay!” he didn’t like it because it related to him in away. He is terrified of his aggressive father so he’s trying to hide his sexuality.
Oscar's childhood trauma and parental scarring is what effects the way he acts and he can’t seem to come out and how it effects him tremendously. His mom leaves him and the dad alone and gets with another man, Oscar stay with his dad because he believes he doesn’t belong. In the movie he falls in love with a “handsome” co-worker by the name of Wilder.
