Holy Halloween
Every year when the end of October comes around, how do you celebrate Halloween? Halloween is on October 31st and is mostly celebrated by children who dress in costume and solicit candy or treats door to door. Although Halloween has only been traditional in the United States since the mid 1900's, Halloween originated about 2,000 years ago. Halloween began in Ireland, United Kingdom, and France. Halloween originated in ancient Cellic festivals of Samhain in Ireland. Every November 1st, the Cellic's would light bonfires, and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghost for the coming of the year.
In the second half of the 19th century, the United States flooded with immigrants from all over the globe. Immigrants conveyed the avocations of Halloween, turning it into an American tradition. Halloween began being advertised during the late 1930's. The industrial economy augmented in a insignificant way when Immigrants trans-located into America. One-fourth of all candy sold annually in the United States today is purchased for this holiday. So in a few weeks from now, when you're taking your little sister or little brother trick-or-treating think of what Halloween really means and how it has affected you.
