Day of love

Valentine’s Day, either you love it or you hate it. Regardless if you like it or not, it’s always on the same day every year. February the 14th is the day that we all know as Valentine’s Day.

There are a couple of different ideas as to why the day was created, some believe it was made in the middle of February to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine’s death or burial, others say the Christian church decided to place St. Valentine’s feast day in the middle of February in an effort to “Christianize” the pagan celebration of Lupercalia. Valentine’s Day as we know it today is more or less the “day of love”. So basically people will send cards, candy, and treats to those they love. It has become tradition for some to send someone an anonymous gift so they can get their feeling out without having to deal with the rejection.

In my opinion I don’t think Valentine’s is played or not needed, especially in they society that we live in now. I think it’s good to show some affection every now and then. However, I don’t think the day should be just limited to a crush, spouse or the person you re dating. I believe you should give gifts to everybody you love, whether it’s family, friends or just whoever.

No matter what you say, everybody likes knowing they are loved no matter who you are. So, in all I think the creation of Valentine’s Day was a great and idea and it is truly needed.
