How it feels to be a girlfriend to a Marine
Being a girlfriend of a U.S. Marine is definitely a hard difficult. Basic training, different phases, deployments, not knowing if your marine is coming home or not is definitely stressful. I only get to talk to my boyfriend from Friday night to Sunday night and within those two and a half days it's tough.
You never get to talk to your significant other as much as you want or need. I got lucky this time and he went and bought a crappy phone and kept his actual phone and he turned the crappy phone in and kept his. But his sergeant came and told him they were going to the fields this week so he sadly had to put his phone in the locker and lock it up.
After I graduate he will be going on six-month deployment and then he will return home for six-months. I haven't seen him since June 17, 2017. It's been almost five months. If I can tolerate not seeing him that long I know I can deal with deployment no matter the distances. The best part about being a marine girlfriend is the care packages, picking him up from the air ports, waiting for him to surprise me when he's back home, the "first kiss" all over again, and jumping in
their arms.
He will be home for thanksgiving but I have a reason for Veteran's Day now, I date somebody that serves our country to keep us safe. Veteran's Day truly has meaning now that I know how it feels to be with somebody that’s in a military branch. It's an amazing feeling to be able to say "My marine is coming home". It's truly a honor to be a Marine girlfriend. No matter the circumstances.
