The times of our high school life

Eastern Guilford high school, April 12th, I asked about 3 of the same grade about how their high school experience went or how they feel about the big change from 8th to 9th and how the sophomore and juniors feel about being in the middle this is what they had to say;

Haley Riggs 9th grade: Her favorite teachers so far are Ms. Page and Mr. Tillman. She likes 2nd semester more. She never really liked enrichment and many teachers just let them chill. She wishes the warning bell was back because she feels like she is going to be later to class now. She likes not having smod and her first day she expected to be lost and never saw different treatment being a freshman.

Chase Ford 9th grade: His plans after high school are to go to college or find a job that doesn’t require college and makes a lot of money. He didn’t have any school rules to change but some class rules. He liked first semester better and didn’t really care for enrichment. He also doesn’t miss smod and playing sports in idle and high school are the same playing wise.

Jasmine Williams 10th grade: On her first day of high school she didn’t expect to make any friends because she was new to the school. She never noticed different treatment from upper class men as a freshman. She liked enrichment with certain teachers. She enjoys high school sports more because they take them serious. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Merrill and doesn’t miss smod. If she could change one rule she would change the no cellphone rule she believes you should be able to text your parents if something happened.

Left Djay Mobley 10th Right Sydni Sharp 9th

Sydni sharp 9th grade: Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Duque. She enjoys 4 classes per semester rather than 8 classes a day. She enjoys no more smod and her favorite memory of high school so far was college and career day. If she could change any rules it would be the fighting rule because even if you are self defending yourself you still get in trouble and it shouldn’t work like that.

D’jay Mobley 10th grade: One thing he has noticed that has changed is how the people he was friends with in middle are way different now. He was half and half with enrichment. One rule he would change would be to have longer lunch. He

says sports are harder to play now especially with timing homework time. He doesn’t miss smod and feels he has more freedom in high school.

Erin Reed 10th grade: On her first day she expected thing to be horrible and has noticed how much her “friends” have changed. She liked enrichment only for the fact that it made the day go by faster. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Keener-Jones and her favorite memory so far is cheering for football season. She likes all of her classes the way they are and wouldn’t change them. If she could change one rule it would be the dress code and not be as strict with girls. After high school she plans to attend Coastal Carolina and study nursing or criminal Justice. Dallas Alston

Dallas Alston 11th grade: As a junior he says it’s a little harder because its way more seriousness with applying to colleges and having to make really good grades. While preparing for the ACT and SAT (math part) he visited Mrs. Mitchell and Mr. Jones and Mrs. Worlds and he used Khan Academy but recommends teachers are a great study source. He liked enrichment because it was a great time to catch up on late work. One rule he would change would let you sign out and get your own lunch off campus. His favorite class is Dance and soon to be in honors dance. His favorite teachers are Mrs. Worlds, Mrs. Marcus, Mrs. Greene, and Mrs. Offhaus.

Russell Ary 11th grade: He enjoyed enrichment and wishes they would bring it back. He thought last year was easier because he had more electives rather than core classes. He did enjoy more electives more and enrichment because it gave them extra time to catch up. His favorite teacher is coach East and and if he could change one thing about school it would be to have more pep rallies and more class meetings and things like that.

Celeste Miller 11th grade: If she could change one rule it would be dress code. Her favorite teacher is Ms.Tran she enjoyed enrichment her favorite memory is lunch with her friends but wishes lunch was longer. She likes having 4 classes a semester and thought 1st semester was harder. She will miss high school and and after she is going to college wanting to major in college.

Albany Williams 12th grade: She expected high school to be like middle school. Through her four years of high school she has gotten more wiser and has gotten better with getting things turned in on time. She is ready for college and feels it will be easier. If she could go back in time she would change freshman year she has enjoyed her whole senior year. When she goes to college she will get a job and will study fire science. She liked all of her teachers and three school rules she

would change would to be let people off campus for lunch, bring the warning bell back and bring enrichment back. Albany Williams (left) Jamya Felder (right)

Jamya Felder 12th grade: When she first started high school she expected to meet new people and see different maturities. Through her four years she feels more confident and felt like she had more freedom rather than middle. If she could back and change something it would be past decisions. Her friends gave her a great senior year and when she goes to college she planned to study nursing but now going to study biology. Her favorite teacher is Ms. Savoy she feels like her mind set has changed a lot in four years. A rule she would change would to have more pep rallies come back, have food trucks for lunch or before school more and have field days.
