Best Movies to Watch for a Holly Jolly Christmas

Let's be real, it really is the most wonderful time of the year. The world is covered in colorful lights, everything is peppermint flavored, the chestnuts are roasting on open fires and Hallmark is mass producing even more movies with the exact same plot. (Young woman, typically a baker, falls in love with a man who has a small dog and teaches her the true meaning of the holidays.) Now, you're welcome to sit and watch the Hallmark channel while eating an entire a tub of cookie dough in one sitting; by all means, go ahead. Though, you could just watch the movies on this list. I've put together a collective list of the best Christmas movies of all time. Some classic, some new, and some aren't exactly traditional, but still well worth the watch.

2. Edward Scissorhands (1990) Probably not a movie you’d expect to see on a Christmas list, but the movie is great for people who feel isolated around the holidays.

3. Tokyo Godfathers (2003) On Christmas Eve, three homeless people living on the streets of Tokyo find a newborn baby among the trash and set out to find its parents.

4. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) The Pumpkin King who rules the land of Halloween stumbles upon the land of Christmas and wishes his life could be that joyful.

5. Gremlins (1984) Cute creatures called the Mogwai have a strict set of rules they must follow. If they don’t, bad things happen. Like a group of crazy Gremlins wreaking havoc on Christmas eve.

6. Mean Girls (2004) While this movie isn't really a Christmas movie, that one talent show scene pretty much makes it allowed. Why do you even need an excuse for watching Mean Girls? I know you’ve been itching to watch it since the “thank u, next” music video.
