One and done for Coach Glass
As Coach Glass gets ready to leave Eastern Guilford and head back to his hometown, I asked football players and their coaches how they feel about his departure.

Former WR/CB Justin Matthews: "I don’t have no problem with it either he helped me get offers so I feel like it’s a business decision."

Justin Matthews: “No not at all. I will still communicate with him.
Latrell Brown: "No and I'm a senior so he has not that much to do with me afterwards for football or school I will still communicate with him”.
How has Coach Glass mentored or helped you in anyway?
Latrell Brown: "By making me a better person - telling me life lessons and making me learn from it."
Justin Matthews: "He helped me become a better man if I had like a problem or something, I could call him at any time."
Is Coach Glass leaving going to affect Eastern Guilford or its football program?
Justin Matthews: "Well he is a good coach leaving them now knowing they have to go through the process all over again and fight through adversity."
Latrell Brown: "It will be a little affected because he bonded with us and got close and then he is leaving so they have to start all the way over and learn new stuff."
A Coach's perspective
How do you feel about Coach Glass leaving?
Coach Jones: (WR/special teams coach) "It's disappointing. I mean I’ve been here for 10 years so there is a disappointment side to that and a level of understanding that this is just the nature of the beast coaches come and go. There are some jobs that are lucrative and more attractive and for Coach Glass this was an opportunity to be closer to where he’s from and to be back home. It's another opportunity so I been through it a couple of times. There is a level of disappointment because I like Coach Glass. He did some good things but on the other hand I understand why he is doing it.”
Does his leaving affect you?
Coach Jones: "Coach Glass leaving does affect me because you have to learn a new scheme and learn a relationship with kids, new rules on how they are going to handle discipline, and each coach is a little bit different on how they handle their summer schedule. It has affected me in many ways - some positive and some negative."
How has Coach Glass mentored or helped you?
Coach Jones: "Coach Glass has helped me a lot with understanding my situation. I was in a tough bind with things off the field with having a child this fall and my dad passed this fall so he helped and he was there with me through all of that especially not being at some practices and not be at the program early on. He also challenged me by putting me a new spot, being the special team’s coordinator, and helped me grow as a person by putting me in a new position.
A Coach who will be missed
How do you feel about the head football coach leaving?
Wildcat: No matter how much coaching is in his life and how much he loves the sport, no matter what goes on, he’s going to do what’s rights for his family and children.
Coach Glass greatly impacted the Wildcat community on and off the field. We are sad to see him go but wish him the best at his new job! Thank you, Coach Glass, for coming in and taking over the program and leading us to the second round of the playoffs. You lead us through a great season!
