Teacher of the Week!
Earlier this week, Ms. Bellamy was awarded teacher of the week here at Eastern Guilford High School, so I decided to interview her.
How did you feel or react when you found out you won teacher of the week?
I was speechless. Shocked. Of course, it was a great feeling, I was just surprised. I didn’t see it coming.
Can you tell me about the students who nominated you?
So the students, I had them last semester. They’re great. They have a great work ethic, and work hard. Just reading their words was very touching.
What does Teacher of the Week mean to you?
It means that I am imparting knowledge that can hopefully be used in and out of the classroom. That’s my main goal. It also means that I’m setting a good example for my students.
How long have you been a teacher and what inspires you to keep teaching everyday?
I’m approaching 15 years, and my inspiration is my mother who was a middle school teacher. I love teaching language arts and being able to help guide my students for a life after high school.
Finally, anyone you want to thank? Any closing statements?
I would like to thank all my students for pushing me and staff, such as my department and other co-workers for providing inspiration and motivation to continue teaching. Because there are always days where you question your decision
